Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum

Another very unique and interesting place to visit in the Tucson area is the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum. The Museum is a zoo, natural history museum and botanical garden all rolled into one. See desert plants, mammals, amphibians, reptiles and invertebrates native to the Sonoran Desert as well as minerals and even a cave dwelling typically found in desert locations in Arizona. The park has gift shops and restaurants so you can easily spend the day exploring the various trails around the park.

To reach the Museum, take the Speedway exit off of I-10 and drive 12 miles west to Kinney Road. Turn right on Kinney Road and drive for 2.5 miles. The entrance to the museum will be on your left. Cost of admission between September and May is $13 for adults and $4.25 for children between the ages of 6-12. Summer rates between June and August are cheaper with admission after 4:00 P.M. only $6.00 for adults and $2.25 for children between 6-12. Park opening and closing times also vary by season so call or check their website at www.desertmusaum.org for information before going to the park.
